Timisoara
The plant in Timisoara is the only MAHLE plant from Romania, part of the MAHLE filtration and engine peripherals business unit. With a focus on plastic injection molding, various welding processes and assembly, here primarily air cleaner modules, air filter elements, cylinder head covers, oil mist separators, carbon canisters, cabin air filters, air intake modules, sound generators are produced and developed. As an IATF 16949 certified company, mass production is carried out with great precision and quality on modern, and in most cases fully automated, production facilities.
More than 1100 employees work in the plant which was founded in 2005 and the company gradually developed by taking over new projects and challenges. 16 major development locations are over the world and one of it activates from Romania. Timişoara is located in the south-east of the Pannonian Plain in the deviagation zone of the Timiş and Bega rivers. Timişoara, translated as "the fortress of Timiş" is the capital and largest city of Timiş County and represents a pol for automotive industry, all the great players in the field being located here. The name of the village comes from the Timiş River, passing south of the city, named by the Romans in antiquity Tibisis or Tibiscus. Timişoara is an important industrial, commercial, medical, financial and university center for Romania.
Timisoara is a city that has owned several records over time: it was the first mainland European city and second in the world after New York to be lit by electric street lamps in 1884; it was also the second European and the first city from Romania with horse-drawn trams in 1869; the Bega River was the first navigable channel in Romania fact that increased the trade of those times. In December 1989 Timișoara witnessed a series of mass street protests in what was to become the Romanian Revolution, on 20 December Timișoara was declared the first free city of Communism in Romania.
